The guitarist Boris Björn Bagger was born in Karlsruhe. After studying music in Karlsruhe and at the Freiburg Academy of Music, he was invited to participate in many concerts internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. So far, he has given over 3000 concerts, recorded over 20 CDs, including the complete Vivaldi guitar concertos, and over 100 television and radio productions. Over 50 new compositions have been dedicated to him, by the composers Lepo Sumera, Jaan Räats, Peter Schindler, Raimo Kangro, Erkki-Sven Tüür, Urmas Sisask, Ester Mägi, Peeter Vähi, and Felix Treiber, among others.

Boris Bagger has worked with the conductors Pierre Boulez, Michael Gielen, Kazushi Ono, Eri Klas, Ádám Fischer, Anthony Bramell, Leif Segerstam, Ari Rasilainen, Peter Falk, Klaus Arp, Steven Sloane, Werner Stiefel, and Klaus-Peter Hahn and, among other ensembles, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra, Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe, Orchestra of the National Theatre Mannheim, Estonia State Philharmonic Orchestra, State Philharmonic of Rhineland-Palatinate, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern, Bochum Symphony Orchestra, Baden-Baden Philharmonic, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, and Ensemble 13. In addition, Boris Bagger frequently participated in the Donaueschingen Festival.

His prizes and awards include:

1994 Music Prize of the Republic of Estonia (the composer Arvo Pärt is a prominent previous laureate).

2000 Winner of the Startup competition, published by Stern magazine and McKinsey & Co for the Musicians Database on CD-ROM (Music Lexicon in Dates).

2002 Award of the Highest Order of the Republic of Estonia for extraordinary cultural engagement.
