Der Hornist Georg Köhler

Georg Köhler was born in Starnberg in 1981. He studied horn with Prof. Will Sanders at the University of Music Karlsruhe. In 2008 he graduated with a diploma, in 2010 with a master's degree. After gaining professional experience in various German symphony orchestras (Munich Symphony Orchestra, Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe), he then devoted himself primarily to playing the natural horn and studied with Ulrich Hübner at the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main in the Historical Performance Practice course (Master's degree in 2013, concert exam in 2016). He received further inspiration in master classes with Teunis van der Zwart, Thomas Müller and Wilhelm Bruns. Georg Köhler is now an internationally sought-after specialist in this field and regularly performs in well-known ensembles in Germany and abroad, including Les Arts Florissants (Paris), the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, Anima Eterna (Bruges), the Barokksolistene (Norway), the Berliner Lautten Compagney and La Stagione (Frankfurt). Since 2017 he has held the position of principal horn in the Insula Orchestra (Paris).
