Yongsuk Choi was born in Seoul in 1992. He received his first piano lessons at the age of 9. He later attended Sunhwa Music High School and took lessons with Yunhee Lee. In 2011, he began his Bachelor's studies at Hanyang University in the class of Daiuk Lee and graduated in 2015. Since the summer semester of 2016, he has been continuing his studies at the Karlsruhe University of Music in the class of Prof. Kaya Han. Already during his bachelor studies he was able to win several scholarships and prizes. In 2008 he received the 1st prize of the Haneum Music Competition. In 2015, he was awarded the Young Artist Award by the Chosun newspaper. In 2016, he received the sponsorship prize of the Büttner Competition. In 2017, he was a finalist of the ́Livorno International Competition ́. He also won the 5 Prize of the Troisdorf International Piano Competition. In the same year, he won the prize for the best interpretation of a work by a contemporary Maltese composer at the ́Malta International Festival and Competition ́. In 2019, he received the fourth prize of the ́Concours de Piano de Lagny-sur-Marne ́. Yongsuk Choi gave more than 20 concerts in Germany and France, including a concert at Steinway-Haus, Frankfurt. He took part in master classes given by Enrico Elisi, Klaus Helwig, Francoise Thinat and Nicolas Chumachenco. He has also performed several times with the orchestra of Hanyang University and was a convincing soloist in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 and Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1, among others.
