Philippe Spiesser

Philippe Spiesser (*1971) immersed himself in the world of music at a very young age. He studied at the Conservatory of Strasbourg with Jean Batigne, the founder of the Percussions de Strasbourg, and became more than just a simple drummer: a captivating and atypical musician who is always on the move and finds enrichment in contact with other artistic worlds: dance, theatre, video, new technologies. A passionate concert artist, he is invited as a soloist to the most prestigious festivals, as a teacher to master classes worldwide, but he has also been engaged in musical research and new forms of artistic expression for years. Since 2012 at the Centro Ricerche Musicali in Rome, he is involved in research on new acoustic instruments. Since 2013 he has also been responsible for two projects developed at the Institute for Research in Music and the Performing Arts (IRMAS) of the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève, where he has been Professor of Percussion since 2009.
