Die Harfenistin Nancy Allen

Nancy Allen grew up on Long Island where she played harp, piano and oboe. She studied at the Juilliard School with Marcel Grandjany and already won the 5th International Harp Competition in Israel during this time. When she was in her early twenties (about the same age as her students), she was already teaching at the Aspen Music Festival and developed her harp studies into the subject that is so sought after today. Nancy Allen joined the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in 1999. Prior to that, she performed as a soloist and chamber musician all over the world. Her musical partners include flutist Ransom Wilson, singer Kathleen Battle and the Tokyo Quartet. Nancy Allen is an exceptional teacher. Her former students have won prizes at harp competitions in the USA and Israel and are solo harpists with orchestras such as the Boston Symphony, Toronto Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Sarasota Orchestra, Finnish Radio Symphony and Dallas Symphony.
