André Meyer

André Meyer studied Theatre Studies, Modern German Literature and Philosophy at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Internships and assistantships took him to the Staatstheater in Mainz and the Bremer Theater. Between 1995 and 2003 André Meyer worked as a music dramaturge at the Städtische Bühnen Münster. Here he was responsible for a large part of the music theatre productions created during this period. He then moved to the Theater der Stadt Heidelberg as head music dramaturge for two years before becoming head dramaturge at the Staatsoperette Dresden in 2005, where he worked until December 2011. With the start of the 2011/2012 season, he worked as head music dramaturge and deputy to artistic director Axel Köhler at Oper Halle until the summer of 2016. Between 2017 and 2022, André Meyer worked as head dramaturge for music theatre, concert and ballet at the Theater Plauen-Zwickau. From the 2022/23 season, he will be head dramaturge for music theatre and concert at the Gerhart Hauptmann Theatre in Görlitz-Zittau.
In his various engagements André Meyer has worked with directors as diverse as Peter Beat Wyrsch, Dominik Neuner, Walter Raffeiner, Gabriele Rech, Dietrich Hilsdorf, Wolf Widder, Phillip Kochheim, Adriana Altaras, Robert Lehmeier, Axel Köhler, G.H. Seebach, Christian Schuller, Cusch Jung, Tobias Bonn, Andreas Rosar, Wolfgang Dosch, Jürgen Pöckel and Tilmann Knabe. In addition, since 2004 he has held a lectureship in dramaturgy at the Institute for Music Theatre at the University of Music in Karlsruhe.
